Kent
Fry
Kent's
ties to theQueen of the Valley hospital date back to treatment he
received for youthfull sports injuries, and he remains closely linked
to the Queen by the day-to-day demands of his business, Fry's Guest
Home, a residential care facility in Napa for elderly dementia patients.
He's also been an active supporter of the Foundation, underwriting
and participating in "Day for the Queen" and other special
events. "When I started looking at what I could do to give back
to the community, the hospital just jumped out at me," Kent says.
"the Queen takes care of everyone, whatever their age, ethnicity,
religion, or social status. To me that's a great focus for community
service."
An avid
duck hunter, Kent also makes time for a variety of community activities.
He's on the board of the Napa Valley College Foundation and Npa Kiwanis
and was until recently a board member of the Napa City-County Library
Foundation.
James
Knister, MD
Dr.
Knister is a member of the Radiology Medical Group of Napa and a radiation
oncologist at Queen of the Valley's Cancer Center. In addition to
serving on the hospital's Medical Staff Executive Committee, he is
the shopital's cancer liaison physician to the American College of
Surgeons and belongs to the Napa COunty Medical Society and numerous
other professional associations.
The Radiology
Medical Group has been very generous in its support of the Foundation,
and Dr. Knister has worked as a volunteer on "Day for the Queen"
and been active with "Reach for the Stars." "The Cancer
Center has benefited from the Foundation's generosity. So have many
other hospital programs," he says. "Im' looking forward
to helping the Foundation with its work in all those areas, not just
in cancer care. The hospital could not provide the services it does
witout the foundation, and that's important to me not only as a physician
but as a member of the community."
Gary
Rose
Gary's
father, E. Kash Rose, MD, started the Radiology Department
at the Queen of the Valley and its predecessor, Parks Victory, so
Gary likes to say he grew up in and around the Queen. "Plus I
had numerous broken bones and visits to the Emergency Room,"
he says with a chuckle. "So the ties run pretty deep,"
Gary is
a Realtor with the Re/Max Napa Valley and active with several local
service groups, including Napa Rotary and the NOrth Bay Association
of Realors. He's also founder and chair of Wine Valley Cycle for Kids.
For many years he has helped organize the annual Dwight Murray, Sr.,
Invitational Golf Tournament benefiting the Fundation. "I'm involved
in many other areas, but the hospital is very important to me,"
he says. "I'm proud of the Queen of the Valley and its doctors,
and I want to help out. I always figured eventually I'd get around
to being on the board!"
