Retirement
Dinner Honors Cliff Hartle
Over
300 Friends, colleagues, and community leaders gathered at the Silverado
Country Club on Dec. 6 to honor a man who has been instrumental in
helping hundreds of local charities, schools, and community groups:
Cliff Hartle. The occasion was a dinner honoring Cliff on his
retirement as president and CEO of the Peter A. and Vernice H. Gasser
Foundation, which he led since the Foundation was formed in 1989.
Among
these paying tribute to Cliff were Dan Corsello of the Napa
County Non-Profit Coalition; Mayor Ed Henderson; Assemblywoman
Pat Wiggens; Senator Wes Chesbro; Congressman Mike
Thompson; Celine Haugen of the Napa Valley Economic Development
Corp.; Joseph Bracco, Principal of Justin Siena High School;
and QVH Foundation Executive Director Dave Johnson.
"Cliff
is such a warm, honest, thoughtful man that I liked him even at those
times-and there were a few-when he turned us down," Dave told the
crowd. "When he told me that right now there were other projects in
Napa that needed the money more, I knew he was telling the truth.
I knew that although the Queen has always been very close to his heart,
he was fulfilling his duty to keep his eye on the big picture as well."
Dave
described how the QVH Foundation had presented its President's Award
to Cliff the previous year for his efforts on behalf of the Queen.
"Given all he's done, though, just one award hardly seems enough.
He's earned that honor many times over," Dave concluded. "Cliff, thank
you from all of us. You've been a joy to work with and you've done
a wonderful job. No award or testimonial can begin to measure up to
all you've done, not only for the Queen but for everyone in our community."
