Murray Tourney Hotter than Ever
Despite soaring temperatures, the 27th annual
Dwight Murray, Sr., Invitational Golf Tournament at the Napa Valley
Country Club raised an estimated $15,000 for the QVH Foundation and
the expansion of the new maternity center.
Undaunted by near-record heat, over 100 players turned out for the event.
Luckily, Foundation trustee Bill Dodd had arranged a donation of water
from his company, Culligan Water. When temperatures shot into the 90s,
the company graciously doubled its donation.
John Imrie and Gary Rose again organized the May 7 tournament. The low
gross winners, with a score of 70, were Dave Carroll and Mike Silvas.
The low net champions, at 57, were Dick Howard and Ron Nelson.
While the Foundation was the event's big winner, the same wasn't true
for QVHF president Jim Tidgewell and executive director Dave Johnson:
the two won the award for the day's worst score.
