$2 Million Drive Almost Complete

The Foundation’s drive to raise $2 million for cancer-fighting and diagnostic equipment is almost completed, thanks to generous gifts from charities, foundations and individuals. With less than $200,000 still to be raised, your donation could help put us over the top!

The fundraising drive focuses on three new technologies that will immediately benefit many local residents. About a third of the total will allow Queen of the Valley Hospital to buy a prostate brachytherapy device and a multileaf collimator, two state-of-the-art tools for treating cancer more effectively and safely. The remainder will go to purchase an urgently needed new computerized tomography (CT) scanner.

In addition to large grants from the Gasser Foundation, the Napa Valley Vintners Association, and the Gilmore Foundation, the fund drive recently received a grant of $25,000 for the brachytherapy device from the Armstrong-McDonald Foundation, a private foundation in Cortora, Arizona. An additional $25,000 grant for the CT scanner was recently received from Community Projects.
